Yet another great photo by Mark Lewer from the salt water reef tank at Headwaters Science Center.
This is an Elegance Coral. Normally the tube-like tentacles (which discharge nematocytes or stinging cells) are extended and wave in the current searching for food, but here they are at rest and pulled into sac-like structures filled with water, exposing the mouth and other body parts of the animal. With a little imagination flavored with curiosity you can see the caricature of a human skeleton under there. Right?
